Skredløpet was held for the first time in 2007 and immediately became a success, with around 230 participants. In 2008, the number had increased to around 270, and by 2014 to around 370.
The race is 8,5 km long and has an elevation gain of 444 meters. The race starts at the avalanche barrier at Aga and follows a well-marked trail through nature, passing Svartetjødn, Rogdatjødn, and Rogdo, before turning uphill and passing the avalanche tracks on the southern side of Rogdo. The route then continues through beautiful natural surroundings up to Kvestadstølane, Måkestadstølane, and Herseter. As you approach this area, the view is breathtaking. This is also the highest point of the course, and from here it is mostly downhill to the finish line at Reisæter. The entire course is approximately 8.5 km long and is suitable for anyone who enjoys hiking in nature.
Skredløpet is now divided into two competition classes and one recreational class:
- Kortbeintløpet: A race starting at Rogdo, divided into three classes for both boys and girls: ages 7–9, 10–12, and 13–15. The course is approximately 5 km long. All participants receive a participation prize.
- Skredløpet: Divided into six classes for men and women aged 16–60+. Prizes are awarded to the best male and female runners, as well as the winners of each class.
- Hiking class: For those who are not concerned about reaching the finish line as quickly as possible, but instead want to take their time and enjoy the scenery. There is a nature trail activity along the route for children, and refreshments are available at both Rogdo and Reiseter, including freshly made waffles, coffee, and juice. In this class, participation prizes are drawn by lottery, with one prize awarded for every ten participants.
